Business Spotlight

Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home has served families in Lynn and the surrounding communities since 1934. As part of the Dignity Memorial Network of almost 1600 funeral homes across North America, we are in a position to offer our community several programs that benefit those in need.
We appreciate the sacrifice veterans make for our freedom and understand that sometimes life circumstances put us at a disadvantage. One example some people in the community may not be aware of is our homeless veterans program. Suppose a homeless veteran passes away and has no funds and no family to help. In that case, we, as a Dignity Memorial provider, will bring the veteran into our care, prepare the veteran for burial or cremation, and set up final disposition with military honors free of charge. We will ensure that no homeless veteran shall be forgotten and will be provided with a decent and honorable funeral, even if they passed away with nothing.
We also have a public servants program. If a firefighter, police officer or other public servant dies in the line of duty, we will provide a funeral with a casket at no charge. As with our veterans, we also appreciate our community protectors and provide this service because we realize that a family who has lost a public servant in the line of duty has enough on their minds. We want to ensure that those families affected by a tragedy have the peace of mind that they will be well taken care of in their time of need without having to worry about expenses.
In addition, Cuffe-McGinn also offers all of our families a compassion helpline. This is a 1-800 number that our families can call 24/7, 365 days a year, where they can access trained grief counselors with advanced degrees (Masters's and above). If someone who just lost a loved one has difficulty sleeping at 2 AM, they can call the compassion helpline and speak with a trained professional. There are counselors available in several languages. This service is available for up to 13 months after death.
Our bereavement travel program is also free to all families using our services. It is run by the second largest travel agency in the world, behind American Express. They will help our families with flight reservations at a moment's notice and can also set up a hotel and rental car reservations at a discounted rate.
If a family would like a funeral service but is not affiliated with a church, Cuffe-McGinn has an on-site Funeral Celebrant. Our Celebrant will sit down with the family, gather information and stories about the deceased, and plan a personalized and customized service centered around that person and how their life was lived. Each Celebrant service culminates in every attendee receiving a keepsake of something personal relating to the deceased and how they lived their life. These keepsakes are our gift to you.
If the family wishes, we can create a Life Story table to capture the person's life (see photo). This table is made up of a combination of personal items brought in by the family and other items we have collected regarding hobbies, interests, occupations and favorite things of a deceased loved one. We provide services beyond expectation with every detail remembered.
We are honored to be a part of a tradition started by Walter Cuffe, Sr. and continued by Walter Cuffe, Jr since 1934. Our caring and kind staff of 5 funeral directors, two apprentices, and several associates who reside in Lynn are honored to serve our community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, whatever your needs may be. That is who we are.
Let me tell you who we are not. We are not a funeral home that takes our families for granted. We are not a funeral home that is so busy that people become a number. And we are not a funeral home who will simply check off the boxes to get a funeral done. We will take our time, listen to your needs, learn about your loved one, celebrate their life in a special way and ensure that each and every family walks away with an amazing feeling of peace and contentment.
Our core values of Respect, Integrity, Service Excellence and Enduring Relationships are the cornerstone of who we are as a staff. We are honored and humbled to serve the great people of Lynn and the surrounding communities, and we look forward to helping celebrate your loved one's life when the time arises.
